Campin' Lantern

Image
So this was just a fun project that I couldn't wait to make as soon as I saw it. First of all I love the outdoors, and camping or hiking, so I wanted my lantern to take on the outdoor feel that I love so much. I used SVG Cuts files for this whole project: Camping at Fox Ridge Camp Smore Forest County And the cute paper is from imaginisce. I added some fun embellishments like the buttons with Trendy Twine , and some hemp and copper brads. I also added some dimension to the base of the lantern by embossing my paper. Ok, are these bears not the cutest ever?!? I want all of my outdoor projects to have those bears, in fact I just want to cuddle them! Ok, well maybe not THAT cute, but they are my favorite embellishment on the lantern...and they're roasting a marshmallow...hee hee. Here's a peek-a-boo at the back...where I have my color changing light that I got at Joann Fabrics. That was so fun to make, just keep in mind whil...

Trendy Twine's Red, White and Blue Contest

Image
Ok, so the 4th of July may be over, but as a proud American, patriotic colors won't go out of style.  For July, Trendy Twine has a red, white and blue challenge, and this is the card I made. I used Blue Berry and Peppermint Stick twine. I layered both colors around the Happy Birthday oval to act as a frame. I also layered the blue and red (tied in a bow) on the stars to resemble fireworks. The card template is from SVG Cuts Green Room kit . It has a bowling theme and I kept the pin because it sports the classic red and white colors. The papers are from DCWV Summer Stack. I embossed the base of the front of the card, so the inside has a reverse emboss. I just added some leftover pieces to the inside as a design element and to tie it together. Here's a close up of the "fireworks" star. What kind of fun projects are my fellow crafters working on this summer? Anyone else entering any challenges or perhaps opening up a c...

Happy Summer Birthday Card

Image
Hello peeps! So it's been a while since I've had the time to just craft and let my mind roam on a project. With this card I just loved the Moonlight Garden Party SVG files from SVG Cuts, so I started by cutting out the stone columns cause they are just too fun! I used some nifty distress ink by Ranger* *tip: use a cosmetic foam wedge to apply lighter and more controlled amounts of ink...plus this helps preserve the ink pad. Sooo, then I decided to weld a few of the columns together to create the stone wall. I wasn't sure how I was going to turn this into a card just yet, but I knew I wanted to create the illusion of walking through the fence and into a garden area. That's when I knew I had to use the plastic as the card base. I purchased my plastic at Michaels, called Clear Craft Plastic by Grafix.  I added two hinges by Lori Whitlock  for the gate so it can swing open and closed.  Then I added some hemp cord around the urns and two fireflies...

Festive Wedding Decor Ideas

Image
Hi everyone! I hope the summer heat hasn't hit you like it has me, over here in sunny Florida. It's a scortcher! Well, since I'm on the topic of hot, I thought I share some pictures of some hot and fun wedding decorations I made for a friend's wedding last month. My dear friend commissioned me to make decorations for her entrance table, favor table, and memory lane table (which features a full scrapbook spread also designed by yours truly :) My friend wanted to make her favors special for her guests, so she shared 4 bakery items inspired by each of the bride and groom's grandparents. The cookie jars were decorative to hold the cookie favors and I decorated the tops with flowers from SVG Cuts, the 3D Mums and Fall flowers kit . This is a collection of all of the items I made, but they were spread out at the wedding reception onto the different tables. Here are a few closer pictures featuring a lot of flowers . I used SVG Cuts  3-D lette...

SVG Cuts Spring Contest: Bird Bath

Image
Well butter me up, 'cause I'm on a roll! I'm posting twice in one weekend, wow, I never get the chance to be so on the ball! Before I get to my project, I wanted to share what Spring looks like in my part of the world...beautiful sunny Florida! Ok, so today's project is my entry for SVG Cuts Spring Challenge. It's hard to come up with something that someone hasn't already made, and so far I don't think anyone made a bird bath.  Look at the cute blue bird family taking a swim! Bet you are wondering how I made this, and which kits I used. Well one kit is obvious, the birds and flowers with vines are from the Spring Birdhouses kit . The bath is made from the bottom of the 3-D egg (bottom half) and and base the is made from the pedestal from the Poplar Street Tulips kit . And the yellow flowers on the bath are from the 3-D Mums and Fall Flowers kit . To create the "water" I painted the bottom inside ...

Spring Bridal Shower Banner

Image
Hello Everyone! I'm really enjoying this wonderful Spring weather, even a few thunderstorms that cool the temperatures are nice. {As my cat cowers in the kitchen terrified} A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of designing a banner for my friend's bridal shower; Take a look see... Supplies that I used :  Sizzix eclips, eCAL program,  Papers from DCWV Rustic Stack, Trendy Twine , Basic shapes from my shapes library for the banner and fringe, Lettering Delights and SVG Cuts files for details. Now for some closer pictures to show the details... I used my fonts, to create the words and then added a shadow layer in my eCAL program. The flowers below are from SVG Cuts Happy Birthday to You kit . The butterfly is from Lettering Delights Blossoms and Butterflies set . The twine, is Trendy Twine's Posy , that I used to tie all of the banner pieces together.  One last detail that I added was embossing on the lette...

SVG Attic's March Blog Contest

Image
This month SVG Attic challenged contestants to use moss green, grey, black and ivory in their submissions. So this is what I came up with... The box container is a candy holder that has a dispenser on the bottom from the Fun Favors SVG Collection . The rounded container is from the set Kiss the Cook , and it holds the little bird house, which is also a candy holder and it is from the set Welcome Spring . I used Trendy Twine's Posy twine which looks so perfect on Spring projects.       I had to shrink the original size of the birdhouse by about a third to get it to fit in the container. For some dimension I used a polka dot embossing folder for the roof accents.  I wanted to have a way for the bird house to hang from the twine on the top of the birdhouse, so I made a hole in the bottom of the container and threaded the twine through. To hang it, I tied a bow, but to get to the candy inside, you...
