Baby Gift Ideas

Spring is filled with so many cute and pretty things such as bunnies and beautiful flowers, but it's also the time for babies! I just welcomed my baby niece, Sophia into the family last week, and I had so much fun making baby gifts for her.
So, on to the pictures then...
 
 
As you can see, the theme of her room is purple, (I probably went a tad overboard with the purple, but it's such a pretty color! Besides I mixed it up a bit by adding a yellow duck...could have made it purple...just didn't think of it :)

 
These cute elephants on the card are from Miss Kate's Cuttables, she has simply adorable SVGs.

 
 Below you can see the nursery all decked out...isn't this room adorable?!? I made the mobile and the crib rail guard.
 


 
This is an owl hat I crocheted from Repeat Crafter Me.
 
 
So this ducking is having a little too much fun...Peek a Boo!
 
 
And this duckling was courtesy of Lion Brand Yarns. The only difference with mine is the eyes and I didn't sew the whole mouth closed so that it makes fun faces.

Hello all, I have been vacant from posting due to school...(blech) but now I am free! I just finished my last two courses that qualify me for my AA degree (only took me forever to get to this point), so I am so excited to be finished with that portion of school. Now on to some fun stuff!  I have made a lantern for Halloween and Fall, so I thought I would stick with the theme and make one for Christmas to give to my sister since she doesn't have much in the way of Christmas decorations. I took these pictures with the tealight led, but I gave her a color changing light too, so she can swith it up. My nephew (he's 7) took a look at both and decided he liked the color changing light the best, and wanted to put it in his room...I guess they can share. I will start by crediting Mod Paperie with the idea project she posted, hers is totally awesome and her details are ridiculous (in a totally awesome way of course)!!! On to the project... Aged Treasure Chest

Good sunshiny morning!  I have a very cool treasure chest to share with you today.  My friend is getting married with a nautical theme, and she asked me to make her a treasure box to hold the cards at the gift table instead of the classic birdcage or decorative box.  We played around with a couple of proto-types, but they were all too small to hold a large card, let alone several.  That's when I knew I was going to have to get creative and play with a couple of different kits to get the look we were after.  I used these kits from SVG Cuts: Ryan's Play Date I used just the sides and bottom of the box My Day with Dad I used the lid from the tool box, but not the sides of the lid (I cut a few extra slits in the tabs so that it would fit around a semi-circle). French Quarter Ironwork I used the fleur decorative piece, and just cut it to fit. I also used some basic shapes from my library such as the half circle (for the lid sides) and an oval stretched out

Coffee Filter Fall Leaves

I know it's still hot out in most places right now, but in Florida I'll take any excuse to bring on cooler weather or at least the idea of it, so I want to share a fun and easy tutorial for making fall leaves out of coffee filters. I purchased some white coffee filters from the Dollar Tree, some $1.00 spray bottles (Target, Walmart and Michaels have them), and I used food coloring mixed with water and pearl powders to make my shimmer sprays. On either wax paper, freezer paper or a Ranger Craft Sheet, start spraying the colors until you have some variety of yellow, orange, green and red. Then start to soak your coffee filter until it is filled with color. Set it aside to let it dry or you can bake it in a 200 degree oven for faster dry time. I also used my heat tool and that work great too. Step 1 . Create a leaf template onto 110 lb paper using a real leaf or an existing silk leaf and trace onto dry coffee filter. Step 2 . Cut out the leaf shape.
