SVGs

My favorite "toy" in my craft room is my cricut, and my favorite thing to use my cricut for is to cut SVGs from my Make the Cut program.  I can either make my own SVGs using Inkscape to create shapes or pieces that create a design, or to purchase or download free SVGs from websites such as Lettering Delights or SVG Cuts.  I love making cards, home decor, scrapbook pages or mini albums with these neat cutouts.  I made this cute cherry birthday card for my mom, using a lot of layers and fun red glitter.  The possibilities with SVGs is endless fun.

Aged Treasure Chest

Good sunshiny morning!  I have a very cool treasure chest to share with you today.  My friend is getting married with a nautical theme, and she asked me to make her a treasure box to hold the cards at the gift table instead of the classic birdcage or decorative box.  We played around with a couple of proto-types, but they were all too small to hold a large card, let alone several.  That's when I knew I was going to have to get creative and play with a couple of different kits to get the look we were after.  I used these kits from SVG Cuts: Ryan's Play Date I used just the sides and bottom of the box My Day with Dad I used the lid from the tool box, but not the sides of the lid (I cut a few extra slits in the tabs so that it would fit around a semi-circle). Coffee Filter Fall Leaves

I know it's still hot out in most places right now, but in Florida I'll take any excuse to bring on cooler weather or at least the idea of it, so I want to share a fun and easy tutorial for making fall leaves out of coffee filters. I purchased some white coffee filters from the Dollar Tree, some $1.00 spray bottles (Target, Walmart and Michaels have them), and I used food coloring mixed with water and pearl powders to make my shimmer sprays. On either wax paper, freezer paper or a Ranger Craft Sheet, start spraying the colors until you have some variety of yellow, orange, green and red. Then start to soak your coffee filter until it is filled with color. Set it aside to let it dry or you can bake it in a 200 degree oven for faster dry time. I also used my heat tool and that work great too. Step 1 . Create a leaf template onto 110 lb paper using a real leaf or an existing silk leaf and trace onto dry coffee filter. Step 2 .
