Seasonal Door Hanger

Image
Happy New Year! I wanted to share a super fun project that was inspired by my sister. One year I made her a Happy Spring decor from this post in 2012 . I realized I put my picture on a green background on that post which wasn't a good choice, so here it is against a contrasting background. She said she liked it so much, she put it on her front door, but since she didn't have any other door decorations for the rest of the year, she basically left it up until Christmas. I was up for the challenge of making her more seasons, but it did take me quite some time to actually complete this project (5 months or so). But I have to say, they came out so cute and I even want some for my front door now! Since it is now January, we will start with the Winter one... My concept for this door hanger was to make one background to use as the base of all of the decorations, and then use velcro to change the designs. So this whole piece is held to the background with two...

Golden Fall Lantern

Image
Hi everyone! So I've been working on a file that was really fun to get creative with and has morphed a lot since my first vision of it. My husband wanted me to make a pumpkin lantern, so I made my interpretation of it by including other Fall elements. The files I used are from SVG Cuts: Boho Butterflies  for the lamp base and top detail. Crisp Days of Fall  for the lantern and pumpkins. Freebies... Sunflower Oak Leaves Corner Bittersweet Wreath This is what it ended up looking like with some tweaking... I added hemp around the base and parts of the top for texture but didn't like the dull color so I spiced it up with some gold paint. I used a Letter Press wire fence embossing folder for the details in the base and on the top of the lantern. Then, I finished the top with some  Trendy Twine . This is what my rough sketch looked like. It was all made with off white cardstock. I didn't have any vellum on hand, but I did have tracing p...

Valentine's Day Lamp

Image
Hi everyone! Since Valentine's Day is just a week away, I wanted to create a fun project inspired by my husband. He's really great a giving me ideas of what to make and this time he said he wanted me to make a Valentine lamp. He even helped pick out the colors and I think it turned out super cute! First off, I have to shout out to SVG Cuts for making such cute files. I didn't have a lamp file of theirs, even though the do have one, so I got creative trying to piece together different components from different kits to come up with my version. The kits I used are: Santa's Village - I used the Santa hat box bottom for the lamp shade. Home for the Holidays - I used the pitcher for the base of the lamp (I modified it by covering up the holes where the handle goes). For My Valentine - I used one of the hearts in the extras folder to create the hearts on the lamp shade. Supplies I used: Washi tape (for the black border around the lamp shade and lamp base) ...

Girl's Easter Basket

Image
My husband asked me to make a fun Easter paper project to put on my blog. I asked him what he had in mind, and he came up with an Easter basket with a paper egg, decorated in pretty colors. I even had him pick out the colors, which were very pastel colors. I liked it but it needed a little more color and design, so I added some graphic print and cut files to decorate the basket and egg with.   I found the 3-D SVG files from SVG Cuts , and the graphics are from Miss Kate Cuttables .   I thought the cute eggs around the egg added dimension and added color. Then I added some fun eyes to the bunny.   If you like this project, use this nifty picture below to pin it on Pinterest!   Thanks for stopping by to see my craft.

St. Paddy's Day Hat and Pin.

Image
Monday is St. Patrick's Day this year, and I thought it was fitting to show you what I was doing this time last year. I was designing projects for an online magazine called Cutting Edge Magazine and here a project I made featured in the Spring 2013 issue.     My green eyed cat...She approves my projects by sniffing them first. If she doesn't approve, she will then try to step on them. What would I do without her?   Here are some of the buttons I used in this project.     I used files from SVG Cuts , and twine from Trendy Twine .   I made some fun glasses on a stick to bring the dress up theme together.   This rainbow pot of gold pin was really easy, I just taped a safety pin to the back.   Hope you have a fun and safe St. Patty's Day!     Thanks for stopping by,

Fall Themed Thanksgiving Album

Image
For this album, I used some pictures from Thanksgiving with my family in 2009. It was a fun day at my oldest sister's house and she did such a great job hosting Thanksgiving that year. It was filled with all of the things I love about Thanksgiving, including games,  traditional foods, coffee with pumpkin pie and followed up with a bon fire and sorting through Black Friday deals in the paper. I will always cherish these times, so it was really great re-living it by making a mini album of that special day.   I used some really fun files from Lettering Delights , both the album and the elements are from LD. I just loved that owl, it's so cute! I also used Fall colors of my Trendy Twine and the papers are a mix of digital and scrapbook papers. My favorite are the ones from Imaginisce. I also used some markers from Ranger, the distress Picket Fence and Antique Linen.   To make some of my embellishments I just poked some holes and ...
