Turkey Napkin Holder

Image
My husband has been asking me for weeks to make a cool paper turkey, so I took advantage of some weekend craft time to do just that. I used this cute turkey file from SVG Cuts Thanksgiving Dinner kit and decided it would be cool as a napkin holder for the dinner table, so I just had to make a base for the napkins to fit in and to give more stability to the turkey. To make the base I just measured two strips of chipboard using a napkin as my guide, then cut two end pieces that I folded and glued together. I glued the small flaps to the outside of the box so the napkins wouldn't get snagged on them, and then I covered the outside with some brown cardstock. I also embossed his head with Cuttlebug's mesh embossing folder and I curled out the feathers on the turkey to make it more 3-D. My husband was really impressed with how it turned out, so that made me smile.

Simple Thank You Card

Ok, I couldn't resist and had to use stitching on this simple yet fun Thank You card...which I made for my co-worker's mom (who I got the sewing machine from). Nothing too complex here, I used the puntada overlock (ss) and the zig-zag stitch.   I used Prettiful Designs FauxBois paper for the background and then some light sage cardstock with buttons and Trendy Twine  (orangesicle and lemon tart). For the sentiment I used a stamp and two circles (the bottom one slightly larger) with a pop-dot in between them. I also added some Stickles Star Dust glitter to the flowers on the green cardstock. Stay tuned for more stitched projects, so many fun things to do with a sewing machine :)

I'm Sew Excited!

I am so excited about my newest addition to my craft room! My co-worker's mom got a new sewing machine and handed me down this awesome machine!  I have never had a sewing machine bigger than the single stitch craft size machines, so the fact that this one has stitching options is so much fun.  I have big plans and all sorts of projects I want to tackle, but first I had to get comfortable with my stitches and settings. I couldn't wait to make something with it, so I made this cell phone case for my co-worker as a thank you. Ok, so it's not really professional, but I had so much fun making it, I made the cute pocket at the front to hold cards and the strap has a snap with a button for decoration.
