Turkey Napkin Holder

 My husband has been asking me for weeks to make a cool paper turkey, so I took advantage of some weekend craft time to do just that. I used this cute turkey file from SVG Cuts Thanksgiving Dinner kit and decided it would be cool as a napkin holder for the dinner table, so I just had to make a base for the napkins to fit in and to give more stability to the turkey.


To make the base I just measured two strips of chipboard using a napkin as my guide, then cut two end pieces that I folded and glued together.
I glued the small flaps to the outside of the box so the napkins wouldn't get snagged on them, and then I covered the outside with some brown cardstock.






I also embossed his head with Cuttlebug's mesh embossing folder and I curled out the feathers on the turkey to make it more 3-D.




My husband was really impressed with how it turned out, so that made me smile.

Hello all, I have been vacant from posting due to school...(blech) but now I am free! I just finished my last two courses that qualify me for my AA degree (only took me forever to get to this point), so I am so excited to be finished with that portion of school. Now on to some fun stuff!  I have made a lantern for Halloween and Fall, so I thought I would stick with the theme and make one for Christmas to give to my sister since she doesn't have much in the way of Christmas decorations. I took these pictures with the tealight led, but I gave her a color changing light too, so she can swith it up. Aged Treasure Chest

Good sunshiny morning!  I have a very cool treasure chest to share with you today.  My friend is getting married with a nautical theme, and she asked me to make her a treasure box to hold the cards at the gift table instead of the classic birdcage or decorative box.  We played around with a couple of proto-types, but they were all too small to hold a large card, let alone several.  That's when I knew I was going to have to get creative and play with a couple of different kits to get the look we were after.  I used these kits from SVG Cuts: Ryan's Play Date I used just the sides and bottom of the box My Day with Dad I used the lid from the tool box, but not the sides of the lid (I cut a few extra slits in the tabs so that it would fit around a semi-circle). Coffee Filter Fall Leaves

I know it's still hot out in most places right now, but in Florida I'll take any excuse to bring on cooler weather or at least the idea of it, so I want to share a fun and easy tutorial for making fall leaves out of coffee filters. I purchased some white coffee filters from the Dollar Tree, some $1.00 spray bottles (Target, Walmart and Michaels have them), and I used food coloring mixed with water and pearl powders to make my shimmer sprays. On either wax paper, freezer paper or a Ranger Craft Sheet, start spraying the colors until you have some variety of yellow, orange, green and red. Then start to soak your coffee filter until it is filled with color. Set it aside to let it dry or you can bake it in a 200 degree oven for faster dry time. I also used my heat tool and that work great too. Step 1 . Create a leaf template onto 110 lb paper using a real leaf or an existing silk leaf and trace onto dry coffee filter. Step 2 . Cut out the leaf shape.
